Amnesty QLD/NNSW Community blog was created in 2019 by volunteers from the regional media & communications team. The blog is a platform that allows volunteers, activists, and supporters across the Amnesty QLD/NNSW community to keep updated on Amnesty news, current campaigns and events on a local level, and encourages our action groups to engage by sharing their own tips, stories, experiences, photos, videos etc. with the region.
The Amnesty QLD/NNSW region spans as far north as Cairns, and as far south as Byron Bay. Our community is made up of activists, students, volunteers and staff, who all share a passion for defending human rights, at home and abroad.
Amnesty International are the world’s largest human rights organisation. Through detailed research and determined campaigning, we help to fight against abuses of human rights worldwide. We bring torturers to justice, change oppressive laws, and free people jailed for just voicing their opinion.
